On 1st September 2019, Meadfleet became voluntary members of The Property Ombudsman Scheme (TPOS). Designed to protect consumers and homeowners, TPOS gives residents the option of independent dispute review and resolution should they feel it is required.
As a responsible land-owning management company, Meadfleet are continually looking at ways to improve the service we provide to customers. Recognising that there may be occasions when homeowners feel dissatisfied with the service they receive, we feel that our customers should have the opportunity to complain. However, if they then feel that a suitable resolution has not been reached, we want to offer the opportunity for their complaint to be referred to an independent body for review.
As voluntary members, Meadfleet believes this demonstrates their commitment to ensuring their customers are treated fairly.
The Property Ombudsman (TPO) has been offering an alternative dispute resolution service since 1990 and is an independent, not-for-profit company. The scheme is government approved to provide independent redress. The Ombudsman can, where appropriate, make compensatory awards for actual and quantifiable loss and/or for aggravation, distress and/or inconvenience caused by the actions of an agent.
Meadfleet’s Chairman, Paul Miller says:
“As a land-adopting open space management company, Meadfleet are committed to providing long-term quality maintenance of the areas in our management and excellent service to our customers. Whilst our industry is not currently regulated, Meadfleet feel strongly that our consumers should be protected and that is why we have become voluntary members of TPOS. We believe this demonstrates our commitment to provide the best service. We chose TPOS as they are an independent, government backed body with wide ranging experience across the sector. We look forward to working with them to ensure the satisfaction of our customers.”
Katrine Sporle, The Property Ombudsman says:
“TPO were delighted when Meadfleet approached them to become voluntary members of the scheme. As an open space adoption company, Meadfleet were slightly different to the agents we normally see signing up to TPOS and we were excited to learn about them and to see their commitment to being ahead of the curve when it comes to offering customers dispute resolution in a currently unregulated market. TPOS are committed to working with agents to help them improve standards and we hope others in the industry will follow Meadfleet’s example. We look forward to building a long-term relationship with them for the benefit of their customers.”
