What we do

meadfleet-what-we-manage

Open space specialists

Since 1995 we have managed all aspects of Public Open Space on residential developments throughout England and Wales, from SuDs to shrubs and play areas to ponds.  Our award-winning in-house expertise, including trained ecologists, ensures professional year-round maintenance of all open space features. In addition to onsite open spaces, we also manage offsite land, such as biodiversity mitigation areas.

Enhancing biodiversity

Meadfleet take an award-winning ecology-led approach to open space management.  In-house ecologists including our operations director, oversee biodiversity enhancements across our portfolio. Meadfleet staff are comprehensively trained to understand and manage the requirements of Biodiversity Net Gain. We actively engage customers and communities through our wildlife campaigns.

Sustainability

In 2022, we received the Landscape Legacy Award for Sustainable Open Space Management from the Landscape Institute.  We are proud to be carbon neutral, the first in our sector to achieve this. As members of the SME Climate Hub, we measure, reduce, report, and offset our emissions each year.  We support a UN verified offsetting scheme in Malawi providing fuel efficient stoves to families which not only reduces timber usage but also promotes safer cooking methods and saves time for families, enabling children to access full-time education.

Customer satisfaction

We are committed to providing a consistently high level of service, both through the quality of our maintenance and the efficiency with which we address customer enquiries. We respond to customer queries within 2 working days and keep them engaged through regular customer newsletters and activities including giveaways of wildlife-friendly seeds, bee hotels and bird nesting boxes. We also provide our customers with access to a free and independent ombudsman scheme if required.  Customers are invoiced in arrears for works completed.  Our teams actively collaborate with resident groups, running initiatives and projects such as planting days.  Our annual customer survey provides an opportunity to gather feedback and further improve our service.

Community engagement

Open space is at the heart of the community. We work with local schools and community groups, leading wildlife talks and planting days and distributing growing packs to inspire the next generation. Our community fund provides support to local events and organisations including food banks, local hospitals, mental health charities and wildlife groups.

A simple solution

Meadfleet offer a long-term solution to developers normally via a bi-annual customer contribution or where this is not possible through a commuted sum.  Our process is simple and straightforward, and we provide support to developers and residents at every step of the way.

Our handovers are designed to be seamless, relieving developers of open space management at the earliest opportunity and transferring responsibility into our care.

Quality

We have been certified in internationally recognised standards including ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environment Management since 2019.  Our teams adhere to bespoke quality guidelines and receive regular training on key management areas such as play area inspections, biodiversity, tree care and health and safety to ensure quality standards are met and exceeded.

Our regional locations

We operate throughout England and Wales, with a network of Regional Managers and Operations Managers strategically situated to deliver proactive management of the areas under our care. They collaborate closely with developers to facilitate a seamless transfer of open spaces into our management and build a strong working relationship with our customers.
