Last week our Operations Director, Samantha Hursey, and Resident Relations, Megan Castle, presented the prize donated by Meadfleet for the Greensands Champion Award 2023.
The Greensands Champion Award recognises the environmental and ecological work that young people are doing within the Greensands area. There were a multitude of fantastic entries that showcased the wonderful work children of all ages were doing in their local environment, from litter picks to leading local COP events.
Whilst it was difficult to choose a winner, ultimately Aspley Guise Village School was selected as the winner! The school has its very own dedicated Eco Team who submitted the ecological work they do. The school itself is an Eco school and have made a commitment to focusing on three topics every year. This year, their focus has been on healthy living, reducing energy consumption, and supporting our oceans. They have created stickers that are around the school to remind students to turn off lights and electronics, they hold regular competitions on how much plastic everyone can reduce and they organise several school-wide activities to promote healthy living.
The funds Meadfleet donated as the prize will go a long way to help the school dedicate more time and resources to their work which, this term, is focused on water consumption!
