Buzz and Flutter: Meadfleet’s New Campaign to Support Biodiversity

As Meadfleet Ltd celebrates 30 years of open space management, we are proud to introduce our Buzz and Flutter Campaign — an initiative designed to enhance biodiversity by supporting bees, butterflies, and birds. Building on the success of our award-winning Bee Friendly Campaign, this new effort aims to create more wildlife-friendly habitats across the open spaces we manage, helping to reverse the decline in these vital species.

Why Buzz and Flutter?

Pollinators and birds play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Bees and butterflies are essential pollinators, supporting food production, while birds contribute to biodiversity through pest control, seed dispersal, and pollination. However, habitat loss has led to a significant decline in their populations. As a leader in open space management, overseeing more than 350 developments across England and Wales, Meadfleet is in a unique position to make a positive impact.

Our Commitment to Nature

To ensure a brighter future for wildlife and communities, Meadfleet is fully funding a series of biodiversity initiatives, with key targets including:

  • Planting 150 oak trees to provide food and shelter for various species.
  • Installing 10,000 sqm of new wildflower meadows to support pollinators.
  • Adding 5km of hedgerow, offering essential nesting sites and corridors for wildlife.
  • Planting 100,000 nature-friendly bulbs to enhance green spaces with vital food sources.
  • Donating 2,000 bird feeders to customers and communities, encouraging local engagement in bird conservation.

Supporting Leading Wildlife Charities

As part of the Buzz and Flutter Campaign, Meadfleet is supporting three leading wildlife charities:

  • Butterfly Conservation – Dedicated to protecting butterflies and moths and their habitats.
  • Buglife – Focused on the conservation of invertebrates and the habitats they rely on.
  • Action for Swifts – Working to protect and support swift populations in the UK.

By working together, we can help restore natural habitats and promote a thriving environment for both wildlife and people.

Join Us in Making a Difference

At Meadfleet, we believe that sustainable open space management goes beyond maintenance—it’s about fostering rich, biodiverse landscapes that benefit both nature and communities. Through the Buzz and Flutter Campaign, we are committed to leaving a legacy of biodiversity.

We encourage everyone to learn more about the work of our partner charities and take action in their own local areas. Together, we can create a more sustainable future for our pollinators, birds, and communities.
