In line with this commitment, our operations team recently completed the LANTRA Basic Tree Survey and Inspection Training. This training equips our team with the skills necessary to conduct visual tree inspections, enabling them to identify potential hazards between our detailed independent tree hazard assessments. This proactive approach ensures that our tree safety standards are upheld year-round.
While trees play a vital role in shaping our natural landscapes and supporting wildlife, they can become hazardous over time due to factors such as disease, damage, or adverse weather conditions. The LANTRA training assists our team in detecting these risks early and seeking professional advice as needed.
Our independent tree hazard assessments are typically conducted every 18 months by expert arborists. These comprehensive inspections consider the overall health, structure, and associated risks of the trees in our developments. However, because trees are living organisms, changes can occur between these formal assessments, making in-house training particularly valuable.
The training covered essential topics, including identifying hazardous trees, understanding their legal and safety implications, assessing risk levels to determine appropriate actions—ranging from maintenance to consulting experts—and documenting findings.
A highlight from the training was definitely the impressive sweet chestnut tree we inspected, notable for its twisting trunk and large size, which quickly became a favourite among the team!
