Inspiring young minds
This week, our team attended a planting day at our Adore development in North Yorkshire, organised with local residents and the local primary school. The event kicked off with a wildlife presentation for the school children led by our Ecology and Conservation Manager, Paul. They explored the various types of wildlife that inhabit local parks, open spaces, gardens, and school grounds, emphasising the importance of managing these areas to support biodiversity.
Enhancing biodiversity on open spaces
After the talk, the children joined Regional Managers Ray and Brett, Assistant Ecologist Grace, and residents on the public open space. Armed with tools and gloves donated by Meadfleet, everyone split into groups to plant spring bulbs, hedgerows, and trees. The children worked very hard and are excited to see the results of their efforts in the coming months. This initiative not only provides valuable habitats for local wildlife but also enhances the green spaces, fostering biodiversity and environmental stewardship amongst the community.
